Schedules

Except in very rare cases, schedules set in August will be final.

In-home Lessons

Please let me know before our first lesson if there is anything I need to know about you, your family, and/or your home! An important thing to bear in mind about in-home lessons is that I am very much at the mercy of the traffic gods. Regardless of what time I arrive, your student will get the full length of lesson.

Virtual Lessons

I can use your platform of choice for virtual lessons. My preferences are FaceTime and Google Meet, but I also have access to WhatsApp, Skype, and Zoom. I will be ready for you at the time your lesson is scheduled to begin, and I will send you one reminder text five minutes after if you have not called. If you are late without previous notice, your lesson will end at the time it is scheduled to end.

Canceled Lessons

I understand that you and your family have busy schedules—I do too! I want to be flexible with you since I will often need you to be flexible with me. I ask that you provide 24 hours' notice for cancellations, but periodic slips are understandable and no penalty will be assessed. For in-home lessons: if I drive to your home and the student is not home, a fee of $0.70 per mile I travel to and from your home will be added to your next payment.

Singers who aren't feeling up to singing are encouraged to cancel. I'm not about damaging your voice just to keep an appointment!

All teacher absences will be posted to the studio calendar and communicated to you as expediently as possible. If you are impacted by an absence, you will be added to the calendar event indicating that lessons will not be held that day.

Illness and Inclement Weather

I am a singer and I interact with several kiddos per week, so getting sick is a major inconvenience I try to avoid best I can! Please contact me if the student or someone else in your house is sick so we can determine whether we should cancel, wear masks, or take a virtual lesson.

If inclement weather looks like it will make driving unsafe or Wake County Public Schools is closed, there will not be lessons.

Makeup Days

A handful of days per semester will be designated makeup days. Students eligible for makeup lessons will have the option of scheduling lessons on these days, and regularly scheduled lessons will only occur if time allows. Schedules will be finalized one week ahead of each makeup day. Lessons that do not occur on makeup days will not be eligible for makeups. If you pay for lessons on a monthly basis, lessons that would normally fall on a makeup day will not be included in your monthly fee. If you end up having a lesson as usual, that will be added to the following month's pay.

Fees

Fees start at $35 per half-hour lesson. Contact me for more information.

Payment

Payment is accepted at the beginning of the month up front or on a lesson-by-lesson basis. If a payment is more than two weeks late, lessons will not be taught until payment is caught up. I accept basically everything except Crypto and Kohls Cash but Venmo and similar platforms are preferable. I complete billing at the end of a teaching week, so please keep an eye out for requests on the platform you use.

Performance Opportunities

Each year there will be a fall recital, a Christmas recital, and a spring recital. There may also be an additional themed recital in mid-spring. Participation is highly encouraged but not required. Competition participation is also encouraged.

Covid-19

I am okay with whatever you are comfortable with in re masks. I am vaccinated and boosted every year.
